From Pam Stephan, your Guide to Breast Cancer
Many of my readers don't like Tamoxifen. Medically, it has lots to recommend it. But those side effects ... ! What if there were something else?

Osteoporosis Drug May Work After Tamoxifen Quits
In Europe there's a drug that blocks estrogen and also helps keep post-menopausal bones strong. It's been lab-tested but never used on people. Hopefully a clinical trial will come along soon, because it could help a lot of us, and might become an alternative to Tamoxifen some day.

Why do we take hormone blockers anyway?
Tamoxifen, Aromasin, Arimidex, you name it - after treatment for estrogen-driven breast cancer, most patients have to take these pills for at least 5 years. While it does lower the risk of recurrence, you might not feel so great when you take these drugs. Maybe it would help to remember the reasons we take this stuff.

Antidepressants That Interact with Tamoxifen
I've been on Zoloft for, like, 10 years now? And it helps with hot flashes. But now we know that some of those "happy pills" cancel out the benefits of Tamoxifen. Oops! Find out which pills you can safely take with other pills.

How long does it take to recover from cancer treatment?
It took about a year from diagnosis to post-chemo screenings to complete my treatments. But then I needed time to recover. All I wanted was to hit the fast-forward button and be done with all that. It didn't work that way, but I did eventually recover.
