From Pam Stephan, your Guide to Breast Cancer
Any cancer diagnosis should be treated seriously, because if it goes unchecked, it can get out of hand. But when it is caught at a very early stage, your treatments will be milder and you will survive it with a low chance of recurrence.

Stage 1 Breast Cancer Successfully Treated
Some people think of Stage 0 breast cancer as "not really cancer." But most will agree that Stage 1 is the real thing and should be treated as such. Your prognosis with Stage 1 is very good, even if your emotions are ranging all over the place. Make sure you understand just what having Stage 1 means for you.

What to Expect From a Lumpectomy
My lumpectomy went well, with minimal scarring and swelling. But it was hard to tell at first, since I had enough surgical dressings to cover the entire breast! Then there were also those surgical drains to deal with - no fun there. Knowing what you may expect to deal with after surgery can help you prepare for recovery.

Radiation After Surgery
Radiation treatments usually follow a lumpectomy. There are several ways to get this done: everything from a one-shot and you're done procedure to a six-week stint of twice-daily zaps. Your options will depend on particular details of your diagnosis as well as what is available in your area. In any case, it is a safe treatment which prevents recurrence.

Newly Diagnosed E-Course
This is an 8 Lesson ecourse that serves as a roadmap for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients; it is full of information about diagnosis details, tests, emotions, and the many options you may be offered for surgery and treatment. We'll also cover workplace issues and fertility frustrations. Each lesson arrives in your email, and you will receive your first lesson on the same day that you sign up. It's free!
