Make sure you understand just what having Stage 1 means for you. | What to Expect From a Lumpectomy My lumpectomy went well, with minimal scarring and swelling. But it was hard to tell at first, since I had enough surgical dressings to cover the entire breast! Then there were also those surgical drains to deal with - no fun there. Knowing what you may expect to deal with after surgery can help you prepare for recovery. | Radiation After Surgery Radiation treatments usually follow a lumpectomy.
