Marianne DuQuette Cuozzo is a 3x cancer survivor, artist, and mother. In 1994, after painting a ceiling of stars and clouds, she had a really bad neck pain and assumed it was from the way she was painting. She went to a chiropractor and had an X-ray which showed a mass the size of a grapefruit between her heart and lungs. An infectious disease doctor diagnosed her with Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 28. Back then it was routine to undergo a splenectomy with high doses of radiation. The cancer returned in 1997 and she underwent chemotherapy. In 2014 she discovered a lump in her left breast and underwent double mastectomy with reconstruction and chemotherapy. Unfortunately the implants failed and were removed after 4 infections. She is currently flat and has been involved with the flat movement, a movement of flat advocates who want women to know they have choices and that they are "whole" and beautiful even without breasts. Marianne also has lymphedema in her left arm which is well controlled with lymphatic therapy and everyday use of a compression sleeve. Throughout all of her experiences she had the ability to express her sadness, anger, fears, hopes, and dreams through her art.
