Antibody That May Stop Zika Identified

Zika infection—especially during pregnancy—can cause devastating complications. There currently is no vaccine against the virus or treatment for the infection, but scientists from Washington University School of Medicine and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine say they have identified a human antibody that could stop the infection.

Worldwide in 2015, approximately 303,000 women died from pregnancy-related complications, 2.7 million newborns died during the first 28 days of life, and 2.6 million babies were stillborn.
