STD Rates Hit New High
NPR—Funding cuts for state and local STD care and prevention programs are largely to blame for the significant uptick in sexually transmitted infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Throughout the country, more than half of these programs have lost funding and in 2012, 20 health departments reportedly had to close their STD clinics.
