Political! And it was handmade at the kitchen table of a determined survivor who wanted more federal funding for cancer prevention. That peachy ribbon was a far cry from the highly marketed ribbons of today.

Where Do Your Donations Go?
Before you write a check or buy a ribbon-bedecked item that promises a donation to "the cause" please do some homework first. Some charities do spend more of your dollar on services for patients or in support of research. Others spend more of your dollar on administrative costs. And some of your purchases generate only pennies on the dollar. Read up - don't just shop without thinking about it.
