Adventures of a One-Breasted Woman - Not the Average Memoir
Susan Cummings has one breast and one very long scar. She also has 20 years of life beyond breast cancer, which makes her a good source of information about life in survivorhood. Her book, "Adventures of a One-Breasted Woman" doesn't paint her as a super-hero, but does reveal just how much searching - and finding - she did in the first 6 years after her diagnosis. It's well worth the read, but check out my book review first.

Many women have a lumpectomy for DCIS - ductal carcinoma in situ - but Susan Cummings had a mastectomy because her breasts were so small. Nowdays when she wants to look symmetrical, she has what she calls a "superbra" to keep her clothes fitting as they were designed to. Fortunately, her husband isn't picky about symmetry.

My breast biopsy was my first ever surgery, unless you count the time I had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out. I'd say the breast biopsy was much worse, because I got bad news right away. Believe me, I had a zillion questions when I woke up after the biopsy, as well as many tears and sniffles.
