From Pam Stephan, your Guide to Breast Cancer
Both my sister and I have had chemo. She had it before a stem cell transplant and I had it for breast cancer. Both of us struggled with side effects, especially a low immune system. If this is your case too, you must be really picky about what you eat. Bacteria is not your friend right now!

Neutropenic Diet Protects From Fevers & Infections
Who knows what microbes lurk on your evening meal? We hope that none do! When you're in treatment and your neutrophils are on vacation, make sure you eat a neutropenic diet. Guarding against bacteria and microbes and mold will protect you from fevers, infections, and additional treatments.

Mucositis Hurts, But Help is Available
Mucositis is another possible side effect of chemo. I compare it to having burning matches scattered all up and down from one end of the digestive system to the other. It can get so bad that the pain can cause delays in treatment. Fortunately, there are good solutions for this.

Keep Your Mouth Happy
My dentist is a wonderful lady who treats the whole person, not just my teeth. She gave me lots of tips on how chemo would affect my dental health, and some good ways to prevent problems. We call her the Natural Tooth Fairy!
